good things : connie britton

from USA Today

Yesterday, I watched two episodes of Dance Moms while working on a few other things....and I reached my threshold for screaming/swearing/glitter/attitude/girl fights/divas prior to the 120 minute mark. Oh my word...I thought my ears were going to fall off in an act of self-protection. I remembered why I'm not cut out for televised or real-life drama and why I like things like football and the Food Network.

But I do appreciate a well-orchestrated series. And by well-orchestrated, I mean the kind that compels you to cancel all other plans and watch an entire season in a matter of hours.

Which is literally what happened to me when I found Friday Night Lights (may it Rest In Peace).

This compulsion struck me and everyone I evangelized the show to. Once you start the series, you literally cannot get enough of it. Tim Riggins did his fair share to add to the addictive quality. (Can I get an Amen, ladies?!) But Connie Britton didn't hurt, either. She was impeccable in the role of Tami Taylor. If I could be any fictional character, literary or televised, I'd pick Tami Taylor in a heartbeat.

So while I'm kind of jumping the gun here because the first episode is just airing tonight, I'm thrilled for ABC's new drama Nashville to start, solely due to my devotion to Tami Taylor. The return of Connie Britton to the weeknight lineup can only mean good things.

Is anyone else excited about the premiere of Nashville? Are you watching anything else this season? (AKA, are you bawling your eyes out during every episode of Parenthood, like me?)

Oh my word, Smash...what a heartbreaker! Cried through the entire episode on Tuesday. Can't believe we have to wait 2 whole weeks for the next one! AH.

Miss you, lady :)
